Have you checked out IFB Academy?

IFB Academy is our newest initiative that brings you online education, access to expert advice, and a handy storage system for all your compliance related documents. Many of the courses on IFB Academy will be free for IFB members – and you’ll receive a monthly email letting you know what’s new on the Academy and what courses you can take.

Q: How do I register?

1. Go to the IFB Academy website: https://ifb.smartdirect.ca/

Most IFB members have been automatically registered for access to IFB Academy. Your user name is your email address, and your password is your 4 or 5 digit member ID. If you’re not sure of your member ID, you can obtain it by calling 905-279-2727/1-888-654-3333, or by emailing mgarratt@ifbc.ca

If you don’t already have an account, click the REGISTER button which will redirect you to the page below. 

Once you have filled out your information on the right hand side, click PROCEED WITH REGISTRATION. Registration is completely free – you don’t need to sign up for courses until you’re ready to do so.

2. You will receive a confirmation email containing your user name and password, and you’ll be prompted to change your password the first time you log back in to IFB Academy. Be sure to keep your username and password in a safe place!

3. Log back in to IFB Academy, change your password --- and have a look around!

Q: What’s available on IFB Academy?

·    ‘Ask an Expert’® – The first thing you’ll notice at the bottom of the log in screen are photos of our current line-up of experts. By clicking on any of these images you’ll see information on the expert, their area of expertise, and a short bio. You can ask questions of these experts via email and receive personal replies. Our current experts can help you with questions about Ethics, Succession Planning, and Errors & Omissions insurance. There is no cost to ask for expert advice, and no limit to the number of questions you can ask! 

·    Accredited CE courses – There’s a broad range of courses available on IFB Academy: everything from Anti-Money Laundering and ETFs, to Ethics and Succession Planning – and we’re adding new courses every month! Right now, IFB members can take the ‘Silver Advisor Tsunami’ course for FREE, and receive discounts on all other course offerings. Note that you must be logged in as a member to receive member pricing, and the discount is applied at checkout.

·    Advisor SmartCase® - Take control of your compliance documents! Advisor SmartCase® gives you online storage of your pdf CE certificates, E&O certificates, licenses, and more. For a low annual fee of just $75 for IFB Members, you can keep everything securely stored online* and at your fingertips for easy access where ever you are. (*Note that the IFB Academy servers are located in Canada).

Q: If I take an online course with IFB Academy, when will I receive my CE certificate?

Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be required to take a short quiz to demonstrate your learning. Once you’ve achieved a score of at least 70%, you will immediately have access to your CE certificate. You can store your certificate in your Advisor SmartCase®. If you don’t have a SmartCase®, your certificate can be printed for up to 3 months after your date of completion.

Q: How often will you be adding new content to IFB Academy, and how much of it will be free for members?

We’ll try to add new courses every month, and our goal is to have at least 6 free accredited courses available to members by the end of 2018. ‘Ask an Expert’ will always be free! Of course, IFB members will always receive the best pricing on any courses offered at a cost.
