Changes to our CSC phone number and your call experience
The Client Service Centre is moving to one toll-free number for Individual Customer advisors and clients and the menu options in the interactive voice response system are changing. Effective March 29, 2021. We're keeping 1-888-252-1847. There will be no disruption to service, the other numbers will stay active for some time.
PIPEDA and your clients' personal information
Highly sensitive information, such as SIN, should only be used for a specific purpose (e.g. tax reporting and other very limited circumstances) and should only be retained for as long as necessary to fulfill an identified purpose in accordance with our policies and applicable laws. PIPEDA (The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ) schedule 1 requirement states “Personal information that is no longer required to fulfil the identified purposes should be destroyed, erased, or made anonymous.” When using a CRM, we have a legal obligation to safeguard clients' personal information, which includes safeguarding this data from potential breach. Storing personal information such as Social Insurance Number (SIN), banking information, and passport numbers, is contrary to our corporate Privacy Policy, privacy legislation and regulatory requirements.
