Update to paramedical services
Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionPDF versionPDF version

In early February, the temporary decision to suspend the use of paramedical services was to help stop the spread of COVID-19. As provinces begin to re-open their economies with guidance from provincial health officials, Canada Life will slowly begin to reintroduce regular business processes.

Putting safety first

Protecting your client and the health professional providing paramedical services is our priority. We’re working closely with vendors in each province to make sure they adhere to health and safety guidelines in their areas.

Next steps

As the first step in our staged approach to returning to business as usual, we’ll limit paramedical services to clinics and not in-home client visits. By operating within a clinic, the work will be done in a controlled environment that’s disinfected after each client. Health professionals will wear full personal protective equipment, including gown, mask, face shield and gloves.

Dynacare Insurance Solutions

Right now, Dynacare Insurance Solutions is the only vendor offering fixed facility options. They’ve resumed in-person services at facilities in Saskatchewan with other provinces soon to follow and will be communicationg details like location, applicant protocols and collection times prior to their anticipated start dates.

For pending applications

Dynacare will contact clients with pending applications as service resumes in their provinces to see if arrangements can be made for them to visit the site. This will be a slow process as clincis will be limited and there is a backlog of cases that need paramedical services.

If your client cannot visit the site, their case will continue to be on hold until they’re able to have paramedicals completed.

For new applications

We’ll continue to underwrite using the relaxed evidence requirements outlined in the How to process business during COVID-19: frequently asked questions until further notice. If your case exceeds the relaxed limits and Dynacare is open in your region, your case will be added to their queue.

Returning to business as usual

At Canada Life, our goal is to resume paramedical services in a thoughtful manner and with the health and safety of everyone top of mind. We appreciate your patience as we take the first step on our journey to resume regular business processes.
