While IA isn’t typically known first for simplified issue, over the past few years Access Life has become a key secondary option for hard‑to‑insure and non‑medical clients — often coming through as the solution when traditional underwriting hits a wall. That’s why I’m reaching out today to hopefully get a conversation started.
Consider this your “fire sale” window.
Effective March 30th, the Access Life application is undergoing updates — specifically within the insurability questions.
Pricing and coverage tiers remain unchanged, but the qualification path will shift.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s coming:
What’s Changing (NEW QUESTIONNAIRE)?
- More targeted insurability questions
– Designed to provide a clearer picture of the client profile - New direct path to guaranteed insurability
– When an underwriting counter‑offer is made, advisors can transition directly to the guaranteed insurability step - Removal of the “Deferred Plus” option
– No longer available if the client has been declined or deferred in the past 24 months - Wording updates, including more “In your lifetime…” phrasing
- Lifestyle questionnaire expansion
– Beyond the current 12‑month window - New decline/postponed question
- Updated travel question
- Plus a few more refinements to risk assessment
Why This Matters Right Now
If you have clients sitting on the fence — those harder‑to‑insure cases, grey‑area health histories, or non‑medical clients — now is the time to get applications in under the current question set.
Between now and March 30th, we have a unique window where:
✔ The existing, shorter questionnaire (OLD Questionnaire) applies
✔ Pricing stays the same
✔ The current underwriting pathways remain available
Think of this as a limited‑time opportunity to secure coverage for clients who may not qualify as easily under the new structure. If you’d like to review a case or need help positioning this with a client, I’m here and happy to walk through scenarios with you.
Let’s make the most of this window.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if we could assist further.
