| SIMPLIFIED RIDER REGARDING NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL DURING COVID-19 |
As the COVID situation changes, we have to continually re‑examine how we're handling things. One of the changes we've made is to simplify the wording of the rider regarding non-essential travel when an insured mentions that they plan on travelling. I will comply with the Canadian government guidelines for non‑essential travel during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Since no changes have been made to the interpretation of the rider, we won't be sending an update. Insureds must follow the latest recommendations by the Government of Canada, which are available on the Canada Border Services Agency website. They can use the following information to determine whether their trip is essential or not. |
Essential travel | Non‑essential travel | - Work and study
- Economic services and supply chains
- Critical infrastructure support
- Health (immediate medical care), safety and security
- Shopping for essential goods (medication)
| - Tourism
- Recreation
- Entertainment
As soon as the government advisories against non‑essential travel related to COVID‑19 are lifted, the rider will automatically be null and void for the remainder of the contract. |
