LIFE INSURANCE CLAIMS: ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS NO LONGER REQUIRED

 

To make things easier for your clients who have lost a loved one, original documents (proof of death, wills, forms, etc.) are no longer required for life insurance claims.

 

Exceptions

If a death occurs outside Canada or the United States, we’ll still require original documents.

And in rare cases, we may still need original documents for deaths occurring in Canada or the United States. We'll let you know if we do.

 

2 simple and secure ways to submit life insurance claims

Express – Without documents for Insurance amounts up to $100,000
 

You can use the Express – Without documents claims process if:

  • Your client's policy has been in force for 10 years or more
  • The cause of death is not accidental
  • The policy has not been assigned as collateral
  • The policyholder is not bankrupt
  • The beneficiary is the person we have on file
  • The beneficiary is alive and not a minor
  • (Quebec only) If the deceased is divorced, the beneficiary is not their spouse or ex‑spouse
  • You have the details of all the designated beneficiaries (address, phone number and relationship to the deceased)
  • You have the contact info of the funeral home (name, address and phone number)

 

You only need to:

  1. Click Service Inquiries on your Webi toolbar.
  2. Select Death claim from the drop-down menu.
  3. Fill in all the required fields.
  4. Click Send.

TEMPORARY CHANGES TO LOGIN PROCEDURE FOR WEBI TOOLS

 

The changes we’re making to Webi will have an impact on the login procedure for several weeks starting on August 16.

 

You may need to log in twice

Depending on what you want to do in Webi, you may need to log in twice:

  • Once to access the secure information site AND
  • Again to access the work tools

Once you’ve logged in to a tool, you don’t have to log in again to use another one. For example, you can toggle between the Insurance Illustration and the DSign electronic application without having to log in again.

Remember to always close your browser when you’re done using Webi and its tools to protect your client’s personal information.

 

Impact on your favourites

If you’ve saved a tool to your browser’s favourites, the link may stop working. We recommend that you always access tools via Webi to avoid this type of problem.

Because Internet Explorer 11 blocks some of Webi’s features, it’s best to use another browser.

 

How long it will take

Our teams are working hard to find a way to restore the single login procedure, but it’s going to take several weeks. Thank you for your understanding and your patience during the transition period.
