Last week, we started our staged approach to reopening paramedical services in line with advice and regulations from provincial governments.  Now, with more services becoming available, we’re finding more ways to help your cases move forward.

Dynacare Insurance Solutions

As part of the first stage to reintroducing regular business processes, we announced that in-person paramedical clinics will be offered by Dynacare in Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Visit Dynacare’s paramedical resumption plan for up-to-date information on when services are estimated to resume in your area.

What’s new – in-home visits now available through ExamOne

Some of your clients may not be able to visit a Dynacare clinic for their exam, so we’re offering an option to help you get pending and new client coverage in place quickly. Canada Life is now extending paramedical services with ExamOne for in-home visits.

What this means for your client

ExamOne or Dynacare will contact your client by phone to book their appointment. During the call, your client will be asked questions to screen for risk of COVID-19. If symptoms are detected, their appointment will be booked no earlier than 14 days from the call. A second COVID-19 screening will be conducted at the appointment.

What this means for you

It’ll take time to get through the backlog of pending cases so for the time being, we’ll continue to underwrite using the relaxed evidence requirements outlined in How to process business during COVID-19: frequently asked questions.

We encourage you to advise your clients to only attend their appointment if they’re comfortable doing so. If they’re uncomfortable, live more than an hour away from a Dynacare clinic or ExamOne is not offered in their region, their case will continue to be on hold until more paramedical services reopen.

Safety first

Client safety is our top priority. All health professionals will wear personal protective equipment (i.e. masks, face shields and gloves) and are expected to self-assess for COVID-19 at the start of each day. These services are resuming under the guidance of provincial health officials, following the required safety protocols for health professionals.  Given that both vendors are operating at a reduced capacity to allow for equipment changes and disinfection to reduce the risk of infection, there will be a delay in working through the current backlog.

We appreciate your support and patience as we continue to find new ways to safely and efficiently process your business in our new environment.
