Quebec City, December 15, 2020 – La Capitale Insurance and Financial Services, SSQ Insurance and Unica Insurance confirm that no data was compromised in the wake of the cyberattacks directed at L’Unique General Insurance on December 3. Operations resumed after a thorough analysis of the systems and we continue to apply the highest standards when it comes to information security.
The quick response of our IT teams and the efficient protection measures that we have in place played a vital role in limiting the scope of the attack. The telephone and computer systems of La Capitale, SSQ Insurance and Unica were re-established when all risks were removed.
As soon as suspicious activity was detected in the L’Unique systems on December 3, its computer ecosystem was immediately shut down. As a precautionary measure, operations at La Capitale, SSQ Insurance and Unica were also suspended temporarily to protect the computer environment and client data, and to analyze the situation. The analysis is encouraging and coming to an end at L’Unique and the results will be communicated as soon as possible.
