The Advocis BC Chapters have collaborated to offer the Advocis Practice Development series, focusing on skills and knowledge that newer advisors need to be successful. The modules are delivered in two parts by experienced advisors who will facilitate the workshops and mentor the participants.

Module Five Preparation:

The initial interview is an important step in illustrating to the client/prospect the value that you provide. Providing appropriate advice is only possible after you take the time to understand the client’s needs and concerns. The advisor will learn:

How to conduct the initial interview
Why obtaining a letter of engagement is good practice
The importance of fact finding
Different questioning techniques - open-ended versus closed-ended questions
The power of active listening
